Re: New rack will be here tomorrow!

After drooling and debating on a few pacs on a website, I finally caved in and new frogs came yesterday, plus got a little albino in a pet store a few days ago. Racks will be full +2 (pacs) if I keep...

    Re: Help with force feeding

Thanks to all who have responded. I didn't think about the portion size but want him to get enough nutrition to feel like eating again and to gain back his lost weight. Tonight he was much more...

Thank you. Force-feeding went MUCH better tonight -- got in him a good dose of Repta Boost.

    Re: new owner

Remove the moss -- it is an impaction hazard. They will stay buried most of the time -- nothing to worry about.

    Re: Help with force feeding

Sorry for the lack of details earlier -- was at work when I posted that.

I'll try the spoon tonight. I've been using the corner of a credit card and he may open it a little but not really enough...

Re: New rack will be here tomorrow!

That's what I was told to try by a rep from the company. So, this morning I did just that, and have monitored temps today in the tubs -- the old one is running about 2 - 3 degrees lower than the new...

    Re: Bloated frogs ...

I thought I was being paranoid ... thanks for the reassurance they are fine. Their temp on the warm side is right at 80 degrees, and that is where most of them are (on the warm side).

    Re: Bloated frogs ...

I think I may be just being paranoid ... but here's a picture of one of the frogs ... pic on left is last night after substrate change (from foam); pic on right was taken a few minutes ago. He IS...

    Bloated frogs ...

After the change to coco-fiber from foam for most of my pacman frogs, in checking on them a little while ago all -- except the smallest/youngest three -- seem to be bloated some. They are all a bit...

Re: New rack will be here tomorrow!

Finally got everyone settled in and tubs cleaned, and changed all those I had on foam to coco-fiber. I had a couple of frogs that were starting to show signs of astivation (sp?) due to their skin was...

    Re: Big Pacman frog trouble

I'd get a DIGITAL thermometer, they are much more accurate. As Grif said, you only need enough substrate for him/her to bury itself. They can and often will bury to the bottom.

    5.5 gallons seems...

Re: New rack will be here tomorrow!

It has heat built in -- there is heat tape at the back. The only thing you need is a thermostat.

    Re: My 8 critters.

Nice pictures. I love your guinea pigs. I used to have several of them of various breeds for about 5 years, even showed 3 of my in a cavy show once. All the dust and mess their bedding and hay...

It is a Reptiles Basics rack. This is the link to their website and this particular rack. Iris MCB-S Rack Wide Version - Reptile Basics Inc

  17. Re-using wood and decorations from other frogs' tanks in viv -- ok or not?

I have a few questions about the potential of re-using things from other frogs vivs -- these would be used in dart frogs' vivs:

Some things I would like to use that has been used before:...

New rack will be here tomorrow!

I have 14 horned frogs. 8 of them are in a rack system which holds 8 tubs. My new rack will be the same, 8 tubs, and those "pacman" frogs that aren't in tubs already will be moving in there.

    Now,...
  19. Re: Ceratophrys Aurita on FedEx truck for delivery today!

Congrats on your new addition! She/he looks almost identical to the one I have.

As Grif said, they can be feisty, so be careful. When I first got my little aurita, she got defensive / angry and...

Re: New to dart frogs, first vivarium!

After more searching, some sites say Auratus can be territorial as well. I think the general rule even for group frogs is to allow at least 10 gallons per frog.

Re: New to dart frogs, first vivarium!

Green and bronze; and costa rican green and blacks are Auratus and group frogs -- one site even said you can keep 2 Auratus in a 10 gallon. Powder blues; and matechos are in the tinc family and it is...
