Re: Is it possible to take care of a wild caught frog?

It'll be fine without other frogs. Most frogs are more or less asocial.

A bullfrog with paralyzed legs is pretty bad though. If it can't move around and catch prey by itself I would put it down if...

    Re: best feeder?

For frogs, other roach species such as turkestan roaches and lobster roaches are vastly superior to dubia roaches.
  3. Re: Gray tree frog: frequency of changing paper towel substrate

It's not as daunting as it sounds. It's basically dirt + plants + light = frog setup that needs practically no maintainence besides feeding and misting.
  4. Re: Gray tree frog: frequency of changing paper towel substrate

Best substrate by far is live substrate. Put an inch of gravel (ideally too large for the frog to swallow) or those fancy clay ball things on the bottom of the tank, cover it with a layer of paper...

Re: Gray tree frog from bold to reclusive

Ask your husband if anything happened while you were gone- like handling, or escaping while the cage was open, or any other potentially stressful event.

In any case... grays are generally very...

    Re: Staple foods

I'm curious why you think the worm's length needs to be smaller than the distance between a frog's eyes. It's the width that matters, and even then it hardly matters with something soft like a worm....

    Interesting

I was watching this video about NASA's Golden Records and discovered that one of my favorite animals was included among the images showing a variety of scenes from Earth. Just thought I'd share.

    Re: HELP! unknown Insect/bug pest!

Could it be a slime mold? They're harmless.
  11. Re: Help I have ants starting to nest in the Terraium where I keep my frogs!

That sounds like nose rub, not ant damage. She's probably just stressed out from being attacked by ants and moved around and stuff.
  12. Re: Help I have ants starting to nest in the Terraium where I keep my frogs!

Can you put the frogs and crickets on a table with its legs sitting in pans of water?

Re: Gray tree frog likely dead from dehydration?

You said it looks like a pebble, is it curled up into a ball or all stretched out? I've never seen a dead frog that wasn't stretched out.
  14. Re: Im thinking about getting a tree frog....(First Amphibian Ever)

A planted tank is by far the lowest maintenance option.

Re: Getting gray tree frog to eat worms

Mine all eat worms, but they definetely have difficulty getting them down. Sometimes they'll even eat a worm only to have it slither back out of their mouth a few minutes later.

    Try wiping the...

Re: Love frogs, not sure what to get.

A lot of people here will say that water bowls are an absolute must at all times for all frogs, but I don't buy it. If they aren't changed every day, they're just a breeding ground for disease....

    Re: Best beginner frogs

For tree frogs you don't necessarily need a vertical tank, it just needs to be roomy enough. I don't see why a vertical tank would be needed unless you're getting the absolute minimum size for the...

Re: Should I amputate her leg?

Is the leg injured or infected? If it doesn't pose an immediate danger to her health it's probably not worth the risk.

Re: Gray tree frog staying in the substrate

Could be a sign that the humidity is a bit too low. Sometimes they just like to sit in the substrate, all 3 mine do it occasionally.

Yeah that's why things like pothos, ivy and wandering jew are typically used. They do fine in dim light.
