Default New to the forum and Pacman frogs...

    Hi!

I've just bought my first ever Pacman frog and the previous owner said that he's not yet an adult, but really, I have no idea how old he is. He's about 10cm wide/long and came in a plastic tub with waterlogged moss to live in. I have now put him in a glass vivarium and changed the substrate to peat (I misted it heavily so that it is completely damp but not waterlogged) and given him a dish of dechlorinated water. He took two gut-loaded crickets tonight but refused the third. I'm still researching Pacman frogs and obviously I want to do it "right" so this is why I have posted this thread here -- all tips very much welcome!

Thanks =) It seems that I'm doing everything I should be doing. First frog and everything makes me question and because there's quite a bit of conflicting info out there, I like to find out from people who have been keeping the same kind of animals etc..

I was told that Bertie is a Cranwelli, so here's a pic of him:

Since looking at Pacmans, there seems to be a whole world out there that I had no idea of! I thought there were just two types of Pacman and was completely unawares of all the different morphs. Doors and windows are opening *lol*

I'm not at all au fait with the morphs within the PacMan world -- I presume the "brown" in "brown C. Cranwelli" is referring to the morph - is that right? Right, on to colour morphs research... =)

There are only 8 species of Ceratophrys that are know, but several morphs and even more phases if each species. almost no two frogs will be alike whether it in color, pattern, or personality.

    These are the 8 species,

    C. Aurita
    C. Calcarata
    C. Cornuta
    C. Cranwelli
    C. Joazeirensis
    C. Ornata
    C. Stolzmani
    C. Testudo

If you want to see some morphs and phases check out Mikesphatfrogs.com
