This species is very secretive and spends most of its time underground. I wouldn't try to stop it burrowing unless you want to cause it distress. The cup isn't dangerous in and of itself.

Plastic cups Hey bros, I've got a A. I dunno, spotted salamander, female, I love her to death, but she likes burrowing, a lot. I'm extremely careful about what I put in George's enclosure, (Yes, a female). I wa thinking I could
put a plastic drinking cup in and cover it with sphagnum and substrate, that'd be fine, right?

Re: Plastic cups Thanks for the reply John, I'll put it in for her, if she wants to she'll find it I suppose - also I may be interested in another salamander at some point in time, do you have any reccomendations for a more active species?
