    Unhappy Strange Discloration?

Hi guys. My name is Aly and I recently just got two new firebelly frogs from my local petstore after finding one of my little ladies shrivled up on my bathroom floor. When I got these frogs one was a dark brown one named brownie & one named flawless who I seem to be having the problem with. On the middle right in between her body and head she has two faded white dots on her neck area. I have no Idea what this could be could it be a sickness that is contagious or maybe just a little discoloration? She didnt have this when I got her. Im worried I wouldnt want my other frogs to die or get sick. Any suggestions or answers would help. Thanx a bunch

Does she eat well? If she's behaving normally, eating well and has had these for a while, I doubt it's something to worry about. A photo of the area would really help though. And welcome to the forum.

That's a strange mystery. The most common skin problems that amphibians have are ulcers. What is her terrarium setup like? Does she have good ventilation?

I would add to that, does she have clean water?

Are you sure it's not her toxin glands?? FBTS have toxin glands on the top of their heads/necks, these are small circular/oval shaped things.

On my greenies, they're a lighter green then the rest of the skin. On my brownies, they're green.

Yeah! Thats exactly what its looking like. Cuz I have a brown one who has the green area. Is this a bad thing should I take her and him to my exotic docter? And yes she has clean water. Her terrarium is water and lans balance. I have little plants in there and a coco hut that they love! Along with some moss. and drift wood.

If it is indeed the toxin glands then she's perfectly fine, no veterinary help needed. It would be much easier if you posted a picture though.

Sometimes the glands are very prominent on the toads, sometimes theyre not. Just depends on the toad

    K. I will. I wish I could but nothing is woring my computer keeps telling me itsan invalid file. But I just got a new frog today. And when I got this frog I took my frog with me. I had there reptile specialist look it over and she said exactly what u had said. That its toxins glands. But thats all she told me. When i'm getting her outta her terrerium should I avoid touching that area? Thank you so much for your help!

No it doens't matter where you touch them, it's not a sensitive area to them. Although keep in mind FBTs (like all amphibians) should be handled as little as possible, as the oils in human skin can harm them. Once in a while is ok though. Just make sure you have no cuts on your hands and you wash them afterwards, don't wanna get any Bombessin (FBT toxin) in your bloodstream!!

My FBts have these two spots also - and I was worried about them too.
