Hello, I'm Pablo. Live in the North of Spain. Yesterday I went to the woods in my bike, and found this fela in the grass and stoped by. When I looked closely noticed that the poor toad had something wrong: some kind of illness in the skin, maybe a virus, some larvae, fungus or other. I know those things are killing a lot of anfibians so I took it to be sure it's not contagious.

The animal is a Bufo bufo juvenile of 4 cm from Cantabria, Spain. It has superficial adhesion of some little tubular white particles on its skin,at the back and side of it's head and some on the lower back. The tiny white things can be taken out with a forceps but the animal seem to suffer so I'll wait until I know more.

Please help me identify and treat this thing on the animal skin.

I was bored so I thought I would post some pics of my female Great Plains Toad. I find these guys all around my house in the summer. I found this one hopping around my backyard. So far she has turned into a great pet. I've had her more than a year now. I would like to find her a male, but I just keep finding females. Shes always hungry, I feed her crickets, mealworms, adult male dubias, and sometimes ASF rat pinks. Shes a pig. If she sees me grab the cricket bin she gets excited and jumps at the glass. lol She is what made me get into amphibians. :o
Soaking

Since getting her I have gotten a pac man frog. In the future I hope to get an American Toad, Sonoran Toad, a cane toad, and some more AZ native toads. We have some really cool amphibians here in AZ. Thanks for looking.

Hi

I was waiting until today to introduce this specie, because I was going to buy 2 more specimens today (and I bought them :)).

I originaly ordered two of them with my local reptile/amphibian store (whose owner and employers are my friends) to a spanish store. They bought two for themselves too.
Unfortunately one of mine didn't make it, so today I picked the other two that were still on the store.

I really like this guys, they're amazing!

My older one (really fat)

And all of them (it's easy to see which one is my older one, he's the fattest)

Dispite one them being bloated (defensive behavior) the truth is that both of the new ones are quite skinny, but they're no better than my older one when he arrived, so I believe I can on their recovery.

Their enclosure (really simple, because they just want free space to bury)

Hello everybody

So, I just bought a Bufo melanostictus.. I was going to buy 2 of them, but then I feel in love with a pyxie... so I bought one of each.

I had to pick between a medium one with lots of red and a huge one super fat... I pick the smaller one with an amazing red colouration.

He's (I believe he's a male) feeding on zoophobas just fine! The only reason he's not fatter is because the huge "room mate" used to steal him the majority of his food.

Pictures coming in a few hours :D

I was at work yesterday around 12pm, when I received a text that said "Help please! Hurry Home!" So I took my lunch, and rushed home to find our shipment of 20 "juvenile" Colorado River Toads (Bufo alvarius) had arrived! Juvenile was what we had anticipated, but they are a bit larger! Which is fine, we just used another 20 gallon. A few are a little underweight, but some of that could be dehydration from the shipping. Other than that, we are absolutely thrilled with our new babies! We fed out 10 dozen crickets and they gobbled them up very quickly. We sat by all 4 tanks almost all night just awing at them. I am so excited to "fatten" them up and watch them grow! Here are a few of the pics I took this morning.

So yesterday my friend found a 1inched american toad. It has a white line running back. Tan body. Four red dots which in the outside have a black circle/line running along them. Its throat is white but the lower part is darkly blotched. I plopped in some pin head crickets. I THINK he ate some of them because he took a dump in a corner. He/she is currently in a cricket keeper because its very small I dont want to put it in a large terrarium yet. My friend did this trade with me so now I have a 30gallon aquarium with a fluval 305 and a heater and some lights and other equipment. So Iam thinking of this 30gallon being a toad tank? Iam going to ask him if he can find me two more toads. I already have the dish and dirt. Currently Iam waiting on my parents approval(the toad terrarium is underneath my turtle tank. Meaning its in the stand. So its safe and sound seeing as toads like dark areas). It likes to climb to the upper area. Because I put in some tubes for the crickets to hide and come out whenever.

Is there anything Iam missing? Oh and I wanted to know. Is there a way to make the toad grow to atleast 2inches or 3inches faster? My friends pacman grew within the month he got him. So I was wondering if my toad could grow alittle faster so I can put him in the 30gallon asap. Oh I have him on paper towels for bedding temporarly. I also used an old conditioner cap(fish) with paper towel folded inside and I poured water inside. I used amquel.

I was wondering how poisonous are the Cane toads?

Let's say that you have a dog and a cane toad at home, would the dog have to actually bite the toad to be in danger? Or can it spread from your hands, from when you're cleaning the tank or something like that, to the dog?

Just curious on the subject since they seem like a pretty common pet toad.

Iam looking to buy toads of america because they only grow up to like 3-4 inches which is a perfect toad size in my personal opinion. I SERIOUSLY cant find anything. Ived been herping almost every 2 weeks this summer which I think its STILL summer. But havent found ANYTHING at all. Except a garter snake(baby newly hatchd) who we let go. So since I cant find anything. Id like to buy it. I know some people on here breed them. But id like to find a local person? Anywho... I just havent made my mind before because of a lot of contradicting topics. Before A LOT of people told me toads in general are inactive. Then Iam being told they are somewhat active. Then Iam being told they are skittish then Iam told they are not skittish. I guess I was and still am confused. But I do know I want a toad. Even if they will just sit there. I think after a while itll get used to me and atleast sit out in the open. when I was inexperienced at determining toads I found american toads, woodhouse toads and another type of nj toad which I forgot. All In all Iam just looking for a sexed pair of toads. Or atleast captive bred toads(atleast one male).

There was this guy on here that had an albino toad. I was so impressed by that. Personally I wish I could own one but its no biggie(especially since they probably cost a fortune). Id like them as juveniles you know? Like 2inches long or so. I already know their care but I was generally confused about their temperament and activity.
