After a mere seven days, my froglet population has grown from 1 to 12! Most of them are eating fruit flies now. The tadpoles have gotten so big, I had to divide them between two 10-gallon tanks to keep the water from clouding up! There are 16 tadpoles in the left tank, and 10 in the right tank. Only 4 casualties since they hatched! Now half of the tadpoles have back legs, so front legs won't be too far behind! Then it will be time to tackle the challenges and joys of froglets! I've read that it takes about 60 days for gray tree frogs to meta-morph, so we're almost halfway there! They have all gotten so big! In fact, I think they've just about reached their maximum size, except for a few runts. On average, the tadpoles are 1 and a half inches long, including their tails. This summer, I'm raising a large batch of Cope's gray tree frogs! I've raised these frogs for many years, but I usually just release them after they meta-morph. This year, however, I want to try my hand at raising froglets and selling/trading them to fellow frog lovers.
