This morning my son found a very young Cope's Gray Tree Frog. She's not "tee tiny" but then I'm not sure what to compare her to when it comes to a tree frog (can someone compare an adult Cope's Gray w/an everyday object so I'll have a better idea? I'm not good with math so please don't use metrics.) I verified that it wasn't the regular Gray tree frog before anything else. As he is going to keep her and we know NOTHING about taking care of froggies PLEASE tell me "Step-by-Step" what I need to ensure that this little girl (I'm fairly sure it's a girl b/c of the very white throat/neck) is well taken care of. I know there is a whole section on here dedicated just to the care of frogs but from what I've read so far it doesn't offer me the "dummy" information that I need. My son has named her "Hoppy" and she's currently in a critter catcher, you know one of those things kids can catch bugs and lizards in to keep for an hour or two, until I can figure out what to do next. Should we get her a companion, another Cope's Gray or is she fine alone? But MOST IMPORTANTLY I need to know everything to get her new home in order: aquarium, type of dirt & how much, greenery, water & how much, food/vitamins (what types/how often), any special lighting, and does she need a heat source (we live in SC & it gets very hot down here but we keep our AC set on 75 degrees)? We had little green yard lizards one time and they had to have a heat rock so I'm really clueless. Kept them for a long time and they even layed eggs but the eggs never hatched. After about a year when the kids lost interest (they were 4, 4, and 2 at the time) we released them back into the yard which is where we caught them. Regardless of my stupidity, PLEASE HELP! My son is now 10 and is so excited! Plus my husband worked last night and is sleeping so he has no idea about this yet. I want to really impress him with as much information as possible when he wakes up so bring on the advice!!! Thanks in advance!

Here is a few care sheets I linked at the bottom.. Research a few more by going to Google and typing in "Cope's grey tree frog care". Not every care sheet is the same and not every sheet is accurate so I suggest reading as many as you can and comparing them to one another. By doing this you should be able to come up with an ideal temperature and humidity. I hope this helps.
I've personally never cared for these. They're tree frogs so a tank where they can climb up is a great choice. Not sure about temperature or humidity those sheets I linked should have that information. In my opinion I would use Eco-earth or bed-a-beast ( it is grounded up coconuts, it comes in either bricks that you soak in a bucket and break up or already shredded in a bag! Should be sold at almost every pet shop) This will keep the tank moist, you only need to put an inch if that of the coco-fiber on the bottom of the tank. You can keep the frog alone, She will be fine alone. Do NOT use tap water you must use spring water or water that has been conditioned with a dechlorinating drops, they do sell water that is safe for your frog at most pet stores. You should have a soaking dish for the frog not too deep though the frog could drown, but enough for him/her to soak in. You do need to get calcium/vitamins for her. There are many brands out there. I use rep-cal calcium with vitamin D3. And the multivitamin by the same brand rep-cal. Do not over dust the food items. For the calcium I would dust every other day or every 3 days and the multivitamin I would dust the food items once a week. Over dusting could lead to over-dosing. You should put some decor in the tank such as fake plants and sticks. As far as a aquarium a 10 gallon could house this frog. Put some kind of background on the tank to make the frog seem more secure and safe. Like the fish backgrounds they sell or you could just use construction paper and cover three sides of the tank. I wouldn't keep the tank in the same room as the AC. Frogs are sensitive to temperature change and the AC could make the temps too low. To see what the temperatures are in your tank you should buy some kind of gauge that reads the temperature same with the humidity. For future reference do not use heat rocks they are very dangerous for your animals. hmm Not sure what else. Its pretty late here I think my brain is falling alseep
I hope this helps you with your situation! If you have any more questions feel free to ask. I don't bite
