Ranitomeya vanzolinii terrarium
May 23rd 2012
Just setup the day the photo was taken. This is a converted Zoo Med terrarium. Completely fruit fly proof (what a nightmare that was to accomplish), my own lid and vent (vent in the top as well as the one built in below the door).

  1. Wow, it took you one day! Good Job!
  2. You put your vanzos in there right after this photo?... Mine are way too shy and barely come out (aside from early morning when the LEDs fire up to simulate dawn and dusk, before the big lights come on and after they go off) unless the vivarium has plenty of plants for hiding. Nice job fly-proofing!!!.. That's a lot of canisters too with all different angles and heights, do you see a preference for them to lay in?

DC101: well, the fruit fly proofing, roof prep, and background took several weeks on and off. But setting the contents up took just a few hours.

Peter: I did put them in right after the photo was taken. The male is extremely bold. As bold or bolder than any other thumbnail I've kept.

I finally got a female for my male a week ago. I've had 2 egg clutches so far. So far they've laid on the outside of the white canister at the back on the right. Strange choice.

How did you do the background? It looks great.
So, since they laid outside of the canister, were there any issues with that (as far as affecting the babies)?
