That is cool. Maybe if you turn up the heat and poor warm water on him then he probably will wake up. I'm not saying that it will 100% work but try it and see what happens.

Cool pics dude you don't see many pics of them in there shell. To wake him he should be placed in a container of water about half the height of his body. Pouring water on top isn't always enough to soften the skin enough to break out.

Chubbz recently woke up. He's eating but doesn't quite have is normal appetite back yet.

Thumbs up Re: Sleeping giant 3/10/2011

    Thanks everyone.

He has been under for almost 6 months now. He has turned himself around a few times and moved dirts around a bit the last couple of days but just hasn't completely come out of his shell yet. I might put him in water later on tonight

Well let us know how that works. You might know this but don't peel the shell off becasue they don't like that , and it could kill them so be very patient.

From what I understand, they can spend the majority of a year underground on average.
In droughts they can even spend 1-2 years under, possibly more.

Sorry for this negative information to the guy who owns the frog, but they can be under for 3 years. That is what I heard, but don't worry they only burrow in the first place because it is like 70 or below in the winter.

Temperatures play a role, but the main reason they go under is a lack of moisture above. The water drys up relatively quickly and if they don't go under they will too.
